Roman Koucký was graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague in 1985. In 1991 he started his own practice, focusing on public space creation, construction of bridges, and a wide range of urban planning and urban design tasks. His office was awarded several prestigious prices, such as Grand Prix Awards for Collection point of materials and wastewater treatment plant in Horní Maršov,  and  the price of European Association of Steel Constructions for his Maria bridge in Ústí nad Labem. In 1992, he co-founded the publishing house “Zlatý řez” oriented on magazine and books about architecture and arts. He is author of several publications, among them the “Elementary urbanism”. He has been teaching design studios at the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague since 2006.
